In-time delivery and high quality standards decisive factor.

Opens external link in new windowTechnip, a world leader in engineering, technologies and project management for the oil and gas industry, awarded Beluga a contract for the delivery of two reels and 17 packages from Le Trait in France to Loyang, Singapore. The team from Beluga had to act fast: Urgently needed spare parts for subsea oil production facilities at a Floating Production Storage and Offtake (FPSO) unit required quick action.

As full service provider, Beluga offered a tailor-made transport concept as well as detailed preparation and a professional implementation of the project accompanied by an elaborated documentation on every stage. “Opens external link in new windowTechnip expects its own high standards to be met by subcontractors as well”, explains Roberto Frigeni, Director of the Beluga Transport Engineering and responsible for the planning and realisation of the loading, sea-fastening and discharge of the valuable goods.

On June 5, 2008 the MV “Beluga Revolution” loaded the cargo in the port of Le Trait. The two reels with a diameter of more than nine metres weighed 50 and 205 tons, respectively, and were placed on the tank top of the vessel. Afterwards the Beluga-team lashed the cargo and prepared it for a more than 15,000 kilometres voyage to Southeast Asia passing the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Strait of Malacca. On June 30, 2008 the multipurpose heavy-lift project carrier discharged the reels and packages with her own cranes directly onto the installation vessel “Venturer”, one of the largest of its kind in the world. Roberto Frigeni concludes: “We are very content with the performance of the whole team involved. The deadline was tight but thanks to our experience and precise planning beforehand we delivered the cargo in time.”

This evaluation is shared on the customer’s side. “A flexible and modern fleet, superior quality standards as well as a qualified team that handled the project professionally and reliably from the beginning to the end: We are very satisfied with this performance and look forward to working again with Beluga soon in the future”, states Denis Thouret from Opens external link in new windowTechnip.
