Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen

The German Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Bremen is one of the leading chamber orchestras worldwide and caused a sensation most recently by virtue of its interpretation of works by Ludwig van Beethoven on the “Around the World Tour 2007“. Estonian star conductor Paavo Järvi has been the art director of the established ensemble since 2004.

Beluga Shipping GmbH supported the “Around the World Tour 2007“, which included guest performances in Europe, America and Asia, and is additionally one of four premium sponsors as well as a long-standing cooperation partner of the German Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Bremen. The international presence and social commitment in local fields as well as the support of the arts and the innovative management concept also link the orchestra and the shipping company. The orchestra is organised as an enterprise, the musicians of the Chamber Philharmonic being the only shareholders. To achieve the high artistic goals, 60 percent of the funds have to be earned by the orchestra itself. In this case partners and sponsors like Beluga Shipping GmbH are valuable supporters of art.

The German Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Bremen can be experienced at major festivals and concert stages in Germany and abroad every year. In 2008,  the ensemble performed “Romantic Flights of Fancy” by Johannes Brahms and Alban Berg at the Gallery and Artist House Spiekeroog, which is a regular venue of the orchestra for chamber music journeys. This year, on 3 April 2009, there has been a chamber concert "Meister unter sich" with the Ensemble Lesmona and the German Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Bremen at the gallery and artist house Spiekeroog.

The German Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Bremen has been awarded several prizes. For the first CD of its Beethoven cycle with symphonies no. 3 and no. 8 it received the annual German Record Critics’ Prize in 2007, the most important distinction for recording media in German-speaking countries. For its social commitment in the Bremen district of Osterholz-Tenever the ensemble was honoured with the “Future Award 2007” as the Best Social Innovation. At this social hot spot in the Hanseatic city the German Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Bremen moved into rooms in a comprehensive school in which the ensemble’s rehearsals take place, concerts are played and various musical education projects are carried out with pupils and substantial involvement on the part of the musicians.

In addition, the German Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Bremen won the German Start-Up Award in June 2008. The jury acknowledged the orchestra for the successful combination of entrepreneurship and culture.
